Marble & Travertine tops should be protected the same as wood tables. Coasters must be used to prevent water rings. Placemats and trivets should be used when serving hot food or dining on a stone table top. Care should be avoided to prevent stains, scratches and chips. Avoid contact with nail polish remover or other chemicals as they may permanently damage the stone. Blot spills immediately. Clean with a damp cloth and mild soap when needed. Avoid scrubbing with abrasive materials. Some stains may be difficult or impossible to remove on your own, but restoration may be an option .
